Peanut butter
To make peanut butter at home, you need proven and strong equipment. It can be a hand or cup blender, e.g., a vacuum or another food processor with blades for grinding and mixing until smooth. You don’t need anything more than roasted nuts and a blender/processor.
My peanut butter was made from peanuts, but you can also make homemade peanut butter from other roasted and dehusked nuts. The most popular are cashews, walnuts, and hazelnuts. You can also make delicious peanut butter from pistachios, almonds, and pecans.
Peanut butter recipe
Peanut butter is often made from roasted and de-shelled peanuts, also known as peanuts and peanuts. Not only are they delicious, but they are affordable and easy to buy. They have a universal, delicate, and pleasant taste.
Peanuts can be purchased in the shell or roasted without the shell or the “thin husk.” I show both versions in the photo below. Convenient to use are roasted (not salted) nuts without shells, which you just need to pour into the blender and start mixing. They are usually quite small and dry but also more delicately roasted. Those in the shell have a fresher, more pleasant taste, but they must be peeled by hand and usually roasted more strongly.
To obtain approximately 280 ml of peanut butter from peanuts, I used two glasses (2 x 180 grams) of roasted nuts (no shells or husks).
Place the roasted and cleaned nuts in the selected container. The equipment I used was a Philips HR3752/00 high-speed vacuum blender. It can also be another powerful food processor with a grinding option and good blades. I turned on the mixing for about 60 seconds (or slightly less) and then turned off the blender. Below, you can see how much the nuts have become crushed after such a period.
However, everyone has different equipment, and you may need to turn off the equipment earlier to prevent it from heating up. If you have a hand blender, place the nuts in a tall container (preferably with a handle because the nuts are hard, and you will probably need to hold the container firmly).
I wait about 10 minutes for the equipment to “rest” and then turn on the mixing again for one minute. I turn off the blender again and then wait 10 minutes. After this time, I turn on the blender for another minute. The photo below shows peanut butter after three minutes of intensive mixing/blending of the nuts. Remember to check your equipment at all times. It cannot heat up.
I add any additives that can enrich peanut butter to the blender bowl only after three minutes of blending. Because my strong equipment can easily handle any type of nuts, I do not add additional fat (oil or olive oil). I almost always add a little salt. I add honey syrup, sugar, or another sweetener if I want sweet peanut butter.
Add to peanut butter cocoa, dried dates or raisins, cinnamon, vanilla, ginger, cloves, and even cardamom.
After adding a pinch of salt (you may have other additions), I mix the peanut butter twice more because I want it to be perfectly smooth and creamy. If I want crunchy peanut butter, I mix a handful of nuts separately into sand/gravel and add them to the smooth butter, which is the base butter.
The use of peanut butter in confectionery:
– Cakes, cookies, creams, and ice cream. Recipe examples include muffins, brownies, meringues, candies, chocolates, and tiramisu.
– For sandwiches, toast, challah, and other sweet rolls.
– For yogurts, smoothies and cocktails.
Peanut butter is often used in Asian cuisine as an ingredient in sauces, soups, and main dishes. You can make peanut sauce from peanut butter and use it on chicken, beef, or vegetable dishes. Examples of recipes using nuts and peanut butter are pad Thai, Satay, Dim Sum, and nut soup. These are just a few examples. Peanut butter is used in various dishes from various Asian countries. Its taste and consistency allow for a variety of uses in the kitchen.
Place the prepared peanut butter in a clean jar, close it, and put it in the fridge. Peanut butter without additives such as dates can be stored in the refrigerator for several months.
Enjoy your meal.
