Panna cotta

Panna Cotta

Panna Cotta is a delicious, delicate dessert similar to cold cheesecake. It tastes great with your favorite fruit. My recipe for this heavenly Italian dessert is proven and worth recommending. I invite!

Ingredients for Panna Cotta

  • 200 ml of 30% cream – less than a glass
  • 200 ml of milk – less than a glass
  • 50 g of vanilla sugar – 4 tbsp
  • Two completely flat tablespoons of gelatin – 14 g
  • 50 ml of water

Ingredients for strawberry mousse

200 g strawberries (e.g. frozen)

a teaspoon of honey or vanilla sugar

Two tablespoons of lemon juice

Panna cotta

Step 1: Prepare the gelatin

Pour 50 ml of water into a small bowl. Pour in two completely flat spoons of gelatin. Mix everything and set aside for the gelatin to swell.

Step 2: Combine milk and cream

Prepare a small pot. Pour 200 ml of milk into it (I use full-fat dairy) and the same amount of 30% sweet cream (this is a thin cream for desserts). Add vanilla sugar. I use four tablespoons of homemade vanilla sugar, but you can also add regular sugar and some vanilla paste or essence.

Step 3: Boil sweet milk

Start heating the milk, cream, and sugar. I recommend stirring everything until the sugar is completely dissolved. The sweet milk should almost boil. Then, remove the pot from the burner and add the swollen gelatin. Mix the gelatin “Glutek” in hot milk until the gelatin is completely combined with the sweet milk and cream (the gelatin should dissolve and not be visible).

Step 4: Pour into dishes

This hot, sweet vanilla milk with gelatin can be poured into dishes. This time, I chose ceramic ramekins (diameter 7.5 cm, height 4 cm) with a capacity of 130 ml each. Just rinse them with water first. For the amount of ingredients, I needed four such dishes.

Tip: You can also use silicone or glass dishes. Choose round molds/ramekins/ramequins.

Step 5: Set aside to cool

Place the containers with the poured milk in the refrigerator until it hardens completely. The dessert will be ready 2-3 hours after placing the molds in the fridge. If you use very small molds and make six desserts, they will probably be prepared to eat after just two hours of setting.

Step 6: Make the mousse

Your Panna Cotta will be set in the fridge so you can prepare the mousse. If you use frozen strawberries, defrost them, e.g., in a microwave at low power. Add honey or sugar (vanilla) and freshly squeezed lemon juice to the bowl. Mix everything into a mousse, e.g., with a giraffe-type hand blender.

Step 7: Decorate and serve

Place the Panna Cotta on separate plates after removing the dessert bowls from the refrigerator. To easily place the dessert on a plate, simply place each mold in a bowl of boiling water for a moment.

Be careful not to let any water get into the dessert mold. Also, keep the molds in hot water for a short time so that the Panna Cotta does not melt too much. It should only be released at the inner edges. Place the plate in the center of the mold from the top. Then, turn the plate to the correct position (while still keeping the dessert mold “glued” to the plate). Lift the mold up. The dessert stays on the plate.

Panna Cotta dessert is a great idea for a quick, delicious, simple, and extremely beautiful dessert for home parties. There is no need to cut or divide it because one dessert is for one person. Plus, you can decorate it beautifully. Serve Panna Cotta dessert with strawberry sauce. It will look great if you decorate it with fresh strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and a mint or lemon balm leaf. The dessert should be kept in the refrigerator before serving.

Enjoy your meal.
