Homemade toffee sauce is a wonderful and extremely versatile dessert.
Ingredients for Toffee Sauce
- 200 g of cream 30-36%
- 150 g butter
- 200 g of sugar, e.g., cane sugar
- pinch of salt
- a spoon of cocoa
The recipe will give you approximately 400-500 ml of sauce.
Place the cream, sugar, butter, and a pinch of salt in a small pot. Set the burner to low power and cook the sauce without covering. Cook the sauce until you consider it thick enough. You only mix it once after the ingredients are dissolved. Then, you can occasionally slightly “rock” the pot to check the thickness. Of course, if you mix it, nothing bad will happen 🙂
I cooked my sauce for about 40 minutes. I used 30% cream and cane sugar.
Add a spoonful of cocoa and stir at the end of cooking the sauce. You can also omit the cocoa.
- The fattier the cream you use, the faster the sauce will thicken.
- The darker the sugar you use, the quicker the sauce will brown and the deeper the flavor.
- You can cook the sauce on low heat for up to 2 hours.
- Air bubbles formed during cooking disappear immediately after turning off the sauce.
Enjoy your meal 🙂
